Planning Gateway One - Summary

HSE’s other statutory consultee role

HSE is also a statutory consultee in respect of planning applications for certain development around major hazard sites and pipelines, development of new hazardous installations, and on applications for hazardous substances consent (as Control of Major Accident Hazards ‘COMAH’ Competent Authority). This is a separate statutory consultee role.

To find out more about this service please go to our website: Land use planning (LUP) - Public safety advice - HSE1 .

To avoid any delay LPAs need to send their consultation requests to the correct team in HSE. It may be necessary to consult Planning Gateway One and the Land Use Planning team at HSE on the same planning application. Consultation requests should be sent to each team separately. For example, if the application relates to the development of a relevant building in or near a designated major hazard site or pipeline.
