Swimming pools
Outdoor swimming pool
Outdoor domestic swimming pools often do not require planning permission as they can be installed under permitted development rights. They are treated as incidental to the enjoyment of the dwellinghouse, and provided they meet certain limits and conditions, can be built without an application. You can view the limits and conditions on the outbuildings common project.1
It is recommended that you check with your local planning authority, particularly if your property or the surrounding area has any of the following classifications:
- Designated land
- National park
- Greenbelt land
- Listed building
- Conservation area.
